Prop firm inactivity rules
Stop trading for long enough and some firms close the account on their own, passed challenge or not. The limit is usually in the terms rather than on the pricing page. Every rule below is quoted from the firm’s own pages, with a link to where we read it.
What can this rule do to you?
Kind of rule
Inactivity
Accounts that close themselves if you stop trading for long enough.
30 days without a trade closes the account permanently
Every account at every stage is deactivated after more than 30 consecutive calendar days without real trading. Logging in does not count and a deactivated account cannot be reinstated.
No trade for 30 days breaches the account
You must place at least one trade every 30 days counted from your first trade. Otherwise the account becomes inactive and is breached.
30 days without a trade lets FTMO end your Challenge
Not opening a single trade for 30 consecutive calendar days counts as prolonged inactivity. FTMO may terminate the agreement for that Challenge account.
No trade for 60 days breaches the account
You must place at least one trade every 60 days. If you do not the account is considered inactive and breached.
30 days without trading suspends the account for good
Any challenge or funded account with no trading for 30 calendar days in a row is permanently suspended. Logging in does not count as activity.
No $1 of profit or loss in 30 days deletes the account
An account that does not record at least $1 of net profit or loss within 30 calendar days is treated as abandoned. It is permanently deleted.
Builder sim funded account closes after 7 days without a trade
Going 7 calendar days without placing a trade on a Builder sim funded account closes it. Live accounts have no inactivity rule.
Fourteen days without a trade suspends the account
Any account with no trades for 14 days in a row is suspended automatically. Contact support in advance if you expect to be away.
No trade or pending order for 30 days is a breach
You must place at least one trade or pending order every 30 days. If you do not the account is breached and SLF terminates accounts for any rule violation.
No trade for 14 calendar days closes the account
Every account needs at least one completed trade in any 14 day window with weekends and holidays counted. Missing it is a hard breach and all progress and profits on the account are lost.
Funded accounts close after 30 days without a trade
An Express Funded Account with no trading for more than 30 days may be closed and cannot be paused. Live Funded Accounts have the same 30 day rule.
Futures: a funded account closes after 60 days without a trade
A funded FTMO Futures account with no trades for 30 calendar days gets a warning, and it is closed if it stays inactive for another 30 days.
No trade for 21 days makes the account inactive
Every account must place at least one trade within 21 days (30 days on Turbo), or it becomes inactive. The rules page says 30 days for all accounts, but its own example uses 21.
Weekly trade count must stay at half your evaluation pace
Each week funded you must place at least half as many trades as your weekly average during the evaluation. Trading less without an approved account hold risks the funded account being terminated.
PRO accounts need at least one trading day every week
You must complete a round trip on at least one day each calendar week to keep a PRO or PRO+ account active. Contact support first if you need a break.
Each account needs at least one trade every week
Evaluation and funded accounts must each place a trade Monday to Friday every week. Idle accounts can be marked inactive, though Tradeify says it will message you first.
This list is only as complete as our reading. 33 of the 83 firms we track have been through a rulebook pass; the rest are still to do, and a firm missing from here has not been cleared. It has not been checked. See which firms are next.
